Prime Masking Jive

Most of my friends dread these dreary events, but i love family gatherings. Probably cos i don't see the entire family of relatives very much as an holistic entity throughout the rest of the year. Absence might just be making this heart fonder.

Anyway, my paternal family had a new year's steamboat gathering today, loads and loads of food. But this year's CNY dinner posed to be quite bewildering for me. For some strange reason, i was bombarded with about a million questions by my relatives about my musical endeavours.

No longer did they ask about my school grades, if i had a gf or what did i plan to do in the future, but the plethora of questions were pertaining to my band, asking me to play songs for them, etc.
Cousins were pointing out that they saw me in magazines, mtv, heard the songs on radio. An aunt even went to the extent of wishing me "hope u release a cd soon" when giving me an ang pow. (Aunty ah, we already got cd, wanna buy or not?!)

CUTE!

But i much prefer the "grow up faster", "succeed in everything", "may you be rich and happy" sort of traditional well-wishes :P

But still, I do get quite uneasy for unexplainable reasons when relatives/family ask me about my venture into music. I guess a big part of this might have been due to the supression then i faced when i started out. The only pillar of support i ever had was from my mum.

But still, cant deny that there was a sense of well-concealed pride I had over dinner.
But really, it isn't such a big deal, I'm just pursuing what everyone thought was a bad idea to chase.
