Wayne Thunder RIP
i woke up this morning with rachel and cynthia telling me that something had happened to wayne. to be honest, i thought this was the whole dhalif incident on repeat and thought they were bluffing.
so i called lerping up and he told me that wayne had past away in his sleep this morning.
at my age, its seldom that i ever hear or experience the passing of a good friend. in fact, never have i ever had a friend pass away. so i just sat in front of my computer and then it finally sank in that one of the nicest people that i know in the music scene has just left.
i ve actually known wayne personally only for a year and half. not really a long time but long enough for me to realise how sincere and dedicated a person he is. in fact, the time that i really got to know him was when he was producing and recording astroninja's album. The random conversations over rendang and random FHM girls revealed the real wayne that is so humble you'd never believe he plays in one of the biggest bands in Singapore.
he was one of the best producers i ve ever worked with, telling me how my tone shld be like for certain songs, how to suit riffs to each song plus he and also taught me a lot about recording and also about music in general.
the dedication that he put into his band(the suns) and into producing bands is just simply amazing and it is a big loss to the music scene with his passing.
it was also a great pleasure and honour for me to play together with him on one of the songs in the album titled yoyo-girl. wayne is simply amazing on drums.
what we've lost today isnt just a great drummer, a great producer or a great band, what we really have lost is a beautiful person and an even more amazing friend.
for those of u that know wayne and would like to come down to the wake and send ur final regards, pls give me a call.
for the loud-mouthed busybodies, pls respect wayne's family's wish of not wanting his passing to be made into a public event. so dont spread this around if u dont know wayne.
for everyone else, pls keep wayne's family and friends in close prayer as they go through this difficult time.
