FUCK you
i was on the phone with a friend today, and he kept mentioning how he had to control himself from spewing vulgarities cos his dad was next to him.
this guy was 28 years old.
but anyway, it made me think about how it always has been taboo for parents and child to NOT include vulgarities in conversations even though we all know that everyone uses them!
well, at least a large majority of us do.
its like when i was growing up, my dad and mum will always make it a point to culture me by telling me how crude and ill-bred it is to use vulgarities. so being the good kid i am, i ll make it a point to be really polite in front of them and use not even use the word "shit!" or "basket!".
well, to be honest, i ve been swearing the fuck outta things since i was in primary sch when a girl shouted FUCK YOU in my face.
i dont think we even knew what it meant back then.
but if she mentioned it to me today, i would probably reply "when?".
anyway, so as a grew up, i gradually realised that vulgarities are a big part of my parent's lives as much as they are of my own!
i ve heard my own dad asking his brother to fuck a spider over the phone, as well as my mum saying "FUCKING BASTARD ASSHOLE!" to the driver that cut her lane recklessly :)
im pretty sure my own mum is fully aware of me being crude and lewd nowadays as she's overheard me talking to friends or when she's at shows where we scream fuck at every interval.
well, my day now actually uses weird teo cheo/hokkien vulgarities to scold his kopitiam kakis when he tells me about them.
so my pointless point is, that FUCK is just a word and if we all started using it like another other word in our vocabulary without any attached stigma, maybe someday it wont be a taboo and might actually be the most said word in the world :)
